Searching for a decent iP PBX we came across 3cx a while back and are incredibly pleased with the product and the features listing as well ! Loaded with standard and advanced features it clearly stands out from the rest in ease of installation , maintenance , and more !! In no time at all and a few adjustments to the firewall , port forwarding , we had almost every feature running as well as tested ! Now each network will be different in that they are all set up with different needs and wants but can be changed to run a VOIP PBX in short time too ! So , We have 3CX installed in our office for over 2 years now shook it down pretty intensely from FQDN issues to Firewall to Anti Virus etc. , This platform out and out works and works well ! We were some of the first who used Grandstream 2600 series phones but now use probably over 8 brands of telephones from soft clients to hard phones , multi buttons to a few buttons ! Bear in mind that these types of sip products , although work well with inbound outbound routing etc. there are so many different brands of telephones feature sets and button programming that goes on , nothing is universal ! Meaning that one size does NOT fit all . Most telephones today will work with 3CX but be forewarned that some buttons on your telephones will not , like multi button appearances , dnd , transfer etc buttons should work on 3CX but other features like speed dial buttons call forwarding buttons BLF type keys etc. may not . Either way almost every scenario given to us today we have come up with solutions or work around's on almost every type of phone ,as We prefer the Snom telephones but use Grandstream Sangoma Fanvil and more . OK enough about phones as you get the picture ! Our initial system install takes approx 30 minutes for 10 telephones as the hard part is setting up the physical phones , and once that's done the rest is pretty simple ! Manually set up the 8 users : SIP user id and SIP user pwd the SIP Auth id along with a sip proxy ( PBX IP Address ) ! UPnP can be set up along with LDAP too ! Once you build out your first telephone using UPnP or LDAP , then the rest are VERY simple in a large deployment ! Adds in Extension numbers sip user pwds auth names etc. ! All in no time at all ! How about routing calls to different places , groups etc. ? Piece of cake ! We set up a standard Sip trunk and assigned an Operator extension ( after setting up our phones - 8 ea mix of soft and hard phones ) made ext 100 the operator , but on an incoming group we added 4 extensions and route calls during the day to this and we chose to forward to a mailbox , ext 101 for overflow but you can make a hunt group and forward to that as well , maybe add in music on hold , or an Auto Attendant ! So as mentioned above , We designed our call flow , which is incredibly flexible , to send calls during the day to a group with 4 phones , and at night to a Night Auto Attendant , no action to extension 101 voicemail , within the Auto Attendant the option to dial a known extension . All of these services over the network fully programmable and no external hardware or Telco charges for land lines ! Note : there is talk of major Telecom's not supporting , installing , plainly getting rid of ISDN type services by 2025 ! As for our installation , We kicked the tires running on a Windows 10 professional pc with 32 gig of memory , 1 terabyte drive and an i7 Processor but you can install this on your version of Linux , Windows 1o Professional , Virtual Machines as well ! Surprisingly simple to maintain yet easy to set up , install , program , or troubleshoot ! We have been up for approx 2 years now , upgrading to the latest codes via standard upgrades or Beta software , and by our own cause , down approx 3 or 4 times , for short periods , due to inadvertently performing software upgrades , Malwarebytes firewall , or Norton firewall issues . Need friendly recordings ? Voice prompts on almost every application from greetings to hold messages and more can either be modified or created new for your business for everything from on hold , transferring calls , to Auto Attendants Conferencing Video or Audio or both and more ! We have not had much time playing around with the Conferencing app , but , The new video web apps and conferencing apps are incredibly powerful in what it can do ! We did have a 5 party video conference last week and it was incredibly simple to start , and during the Video Con Call it was very well laid out , no Audio or Video problems and nice to see and hear everyone and navigate too as the design makes its features simple and easy to use ! I performed this via my Windows 10 Professional PC to 2 chrome books , Apple I Pad and another Windows pc ( Unsure of the OS ) ! Need to get the system out to remote workers in a hurry ? Set this up in a DMZ ! No problem setting this up in a DMZ or opening some sip ports and allow your traffic and remote workers will have no problems connecting to your site ! Easy to monitor your network via most routers and firewalls today to look for bad actors etc. ! Email to voicemail ? Yep and its a snap to set up as you need your email domain ip network server info ! Need to adapt to 365 ? That can be done as well ! How about your call center and the need to talk different protocols like Sugar salesforce etc. ? Yep that too as there are 18 protocols that you can choose from !! This software is not just for a small or medium business as it plays well in the enterprise market also ! also included is Google Firebase Cloud Messaging ! The 3CX client app is or will be soon supporting push for lower battery life on your phone apps for longer life ! We have a document of rthis to set up as it is so easy on your Google account too !!
