Good Morning Everyone and sorry for not posting in a while . Recently we had the good fortune of installing over 30 cameras in a car wash ! Why ? Liability ... Customers were claiming that the Car Wash damaged their cars/trucks/suv's by claiming scratches dents broken mirrors etc. So after the first week after the cameras were installed , claims dropped off to Zero ! And sadly they also caught an Employee stealing ! He was actually a very nice guy too !! How did they do this ? Everytime a car comes into the " Tunnel " to get washed , it is now being scanned by the cameras via the top , side , bottom along the rocker panel edges , back of the vehicle , and any other area concerning the Vehicle is now filmed at close range to determine if there was any damage prior to entering the tunnel ! Due to this , as the folks had claimed an issue of damage , The Managers went right to the recordings and almost every time so far disproved the claim by showing the person it was like that prior to entering the tunnel ! I say almost every time because right now no issues have been found to be the Car Wash's fault but everything mechanical is not without blame or problems from time to time and they are willing to accept their responsibility for their part too ! So the installation went well , as we wired with cat 5E cabling and the cameras are working flawlessly as we speak . We built a server for them running windows 10 Pro and a raid 5 disk array and used win 10 pro so as to not have to worry about Windows Server licenses etc. from Microsoft . 8 Terabytes and we had to tame the 2048 bit rate back to 1028 for storage LOL .. It was using up a LOT of space ( eating Terabytes quickly ) ! We now have it working like a champ and recording all day and nite ( Note on Nights we used Motion detection to cut down on storage as well ) ! So cat 5E cabling to a patch panel as they will never use more than gig speeds today on Cameras , a cat 6 Patch panel ( They may need to set up computers on the patch panel later as they loved it so much so we gave them cat 6 capability on their patch panel network ) and connectors !
We set up a Windows 10 Pro server based machine with raid 5 for the 4 disks ! Sure everything needs fine tuning but we seem to be looking very good right now with bandwidth recordings , clarity as the pictures are 1080 and beautiful ! Our Customer is VERY happy with the outcome ! We also installed 2 Each Netgear GS752TP POE 48 port switches with 2 SFP ports ! Will never need the SFP ports but POE and the price were unbeatable ! So sadly today We must do these things to protect ourselves , and our businesses from those who wish to take advantage of kindness and good intentions ! Anyone who reads this probably knows what this company has gone thru for the past few years with Customer claims etc. killing their liability insurance !! RPOC Telecom was very grateful to be a part of this project and look forward with a great relationship with this client ! A win for everyone involved !
